Dear Resident, It has come to the attention of the police that there have been instances where workmen have been called by residents to carry out work and at the end, they have charged an unexpected high amount. Please take the time to be vigilant and make sure you are fully informed about the price you are intending to pay before any work begins. If you are planning to have any work done on your property, we recommend that you collect detailed information about the individual or company carrying out the work. This includes obtaining essential details such as their vehicle registration number, as well as their first and last name, the full address of their business, and a reliable contact phone number. If they provide you with a phone number, take the time to call it while they are still with you to confirm that it is valid and that someone is indeed available to answer. Additionally, if they provide a landline number, don’t hesitate to call that as well and specifically ask for the person by the first and last name they have given you. This is an important step in verifying their legitimacy. If you have any doubts or concerns regarding the company or individual you are considering for your project, please reach out to Companies House to conduct a thorough inquiry about the business or contractor in question. While they may have completed a good job at your neighbour’s property, it does not necessarily mean that they will provide the same quality of work for you.
